Lupines are a tall flower with small flowering buds. Wearing one of our lupines, YOU make the world a more beautiful place!
Miss Rumphius, (also known as the Lupine Lady) is a beautiful picture book that inspired the design of the lupine necklaces. Miss Rumphius in her old age makes the world more beautiful by sowing lupine seeds along the sea coast. These beautiful flowers spread each year.

My family had to put together a basket for a basket raffle for my eldest son's sled hockey team the Buffalo Sabres Junior Sled Hockey Team. I thought what a great idea "I'll make jewelry and put it in the basket with some wine." At first, I was going to make a grapes dangle pearl bracelet with wine charms, however after working on it for several nights and my unsuccessful searching for wine themed charms, it came to me "make a grapes on the vine wine stopper with the section of the bracelet" which I had already made & make two wine glass charms, one made of green grapes and the other made of purple grapes. All three pieces turned out awesome and were a big hit and topic of discussion at the fundraiser.
~Allison I have found that many people are requesting more "simple" pieces. It is so hard to produce simple pieces when we approach each necklace as a work of "art". There are so many beads to choose from. How do I keep it simple?
So I created my "Smile" necklaces. I showed my mother my "simple" creations and she says people might want just ONE bead. Really? I have been struggling with this for a while now. I keep having to remind myself that I only want to create pieces that I would wear myself. I like to wear simple yet elegant jewelry, however, I am finding it very difficult not to create complex pieces with many beads of different colors, shapes and texture. The beads are irresistable! I am still trying to find my "niche". I've spent a great deal of time not only beading but also reasearching home jewlery businesses. I found a great website that gives advice on all aspects of the business: http://www.home-jewelry-business-success-tips.com/. It is a fantastic resource.
I've spent the day working on the Jewelry Home Party aspect of our business. Flyers and coupons are ready to print. We are thinking of trying VistaPrint.com or moo.com as our printer. For now, we will have to make due with our own home printer. Our plan is to start booking parties in May. That gives us all of April to work on our inventory! Lately, I have gotten my inspiration from the warming of Winter into Spring with the hope that warmer weather and spring begins to bloom. Pink Floral Blossom and Turquoise Spring are my two newest creations which include fabric flowers and exciting colors.
I began some jewelry research to find what this year's spring designs were like and found myself spending a lot of time admiring the asymmetrical designs of the Juicy Coutoure line and I produced these pieces: Turquoise & Green Waves A friend at work asked me to make a lightweight version of Unique 3 Design to wear with her bathing suit this summer. This is what I cam up with based on her description. So now custom made requests are a new aspect of our business. This is pretty exciting! I like this piece. The multiple strands mimic the shape of the peacocks tail. when you hold it the strands fall nicely in your hands. It feels cool around the neck and light to wear. I am proud of this piece! I brought this one to work to share with m coworkers and one said "You are really artsy!" I was happy to hear that! I also made a pair of matching earrings! We found great pillow boxes in green and purple hydrangea designs. We decided to wrap them in a single ribbon and insert our business card. Voila! Our image seems to be coming together!
We have designed our business card! The look of purple and green hydrangeas is the constant theme in our marketing. Look for the butterfly charm on each piece, located mostly by the clasp.
I am so excited I feel as those my own jewelry making style is emerging. Ofcourse Allison and I bounce ideas off eachother and piggyback off eachothers designs, but I was strugging in finding my "niche". Today I created "Green Spring Blossom" and "Spring Life". They are a mixture of beads and chain with pretty blossom pendants. |
